Hi all,
Anybody interested in a SD2IEC disk emulator for a Commodore 64 ?
I build my own in SMD for about 3 Euro total (see picture)

That's rather nice. I paid a lot more for the one I have!

They all plug into the socket on the motherboard to keep the chip from drifting away. - c.s.a2 FAQ of yore

Yes, please! I built mine with a Arduino Mega, but would definitely prefer something smaller.

Hi Rienk,

That's cool. We have a similar need in the Apple ii retro community emulating floppies.
I'b be interested to see how you have done it.

I built up something similar for my retro Apple iie. Called the "SDISK2" which uses an ATMega328p.
here: http://tulip-house.ddo.jp/DIGITAL/SDISK2/english.html

The 328 is overclocked at 27MHz, probably to meet timing issues and is reliable, works great.
Almost like a cheap FPGA.

Cheers.

I did nothing special. Just create a PCB from the schematics.
This is all GNU public license stuff.
I am just trying to keep this hobby affordable.

Could you link to the schematics you used, @rhkoolstar?

Sure It's a subset of the Shadowolf version 2 design. Basically an AVR with 3 voltage converters and an SD card interface

Attached are the schematics and the Gerber files
/forum/index.php?t=getfile&id=2015&private=0
The Gerbers contain 3 boards, the mainboard, the control board and an ISP-to-SD board. The idea is to program the bootloader with R16 (PRG) temporarily shorted and the ISP-to-SD inserted in the SD card connector. For this to work the PCB thickness needs to be 0.8 mm, so the SD card will fit. (also cuts a lot easier)

Come to think of it, maybe it is a good idea to make a Gerber inventory next to the Board inventory on the Wiki.
